A family time out

I love that we can take 2 weeks off of school in the fall for a "family time out." This year we were invited by our dear friends, the Lewis's to go camping with them and their good friends, the Alberti's at Carlsbad beach.

We had such a great time. There ended up being several other families there that we knew so the kids had so many friends to play with.

Bryson, of course, spent sun up to sun down in the ocean boogie boarding or body surfing.

Carson did some boogie boarding as well but spent more time burying himself and his friends.

Kendall spent her time collecting seashells or "sand tanning", as her and her friends called it.

Camdon tried to stay as far from the waves as possible. He played in the sand and loved building sandcastles and then stomping on them.

Lee and I got some boogie boarding in as well and Lee had a seal pop its head up right next to him while body surfing! We also got to watch dolphins every morning play in the waves. Carson wanted so badly to swim out to them.

I'm so glad we went. It's so nice to take a break from reality. Life has a way of just swallowing you up sometimes. A "family time out" is just what we need from time to time. It puts everything into perspective for me, my children, my husband, my need for simplicity. Now our batteries are recharged and we can take on the world again!
